Fire Alarm Installation, Testing & Repair
Does your Fire alarm system conform to the requirements of BS 5839?
The previous requirement to apply for and maintain the conditions of a fire certificate under the Fire Precautions Act 1971 has ceased. However the Fire Authorities have the power to ensure that the ‘responsible person’ has taken appropriate steps to ensure the safety of building occupants. If not and if measures are not taken to the satisfaction of the Authority it can penalise through the courts either financially or by imprisonment. Offences could include; no fire risk assessment, inadequate fire precautions and providing false information.
The new Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 (RR(FS)O) are based on the principles of the ‘Workplace’ legislation. The base principle being the requirement for fire risk assessment and self-administration of fire safety standards. We can arrange a fire risk assessment of your 'workplace' and we will design a fire detection and alarm system following the risk assessment.
We design, install and repair all categories of Conventional and Analogue Addressable Fire Alarm Systems in accordance with BS5839. On completion of design, installation and commissioning separate certificates will be issued confirming compliance with the recommendations. A formal handover of the system will take place whereby we will ensure your representatives have been properly instructed in the operation of the system and how to perform the weekly tests, operating and maintenance instructions will be handed over and a log book in which all events including system tests and maintenance visits are recorded. Following the hand over we can provide regular maintenance, testing and servicing of your fire detection and alarm system to ensure the continued reliability of your system and that you are aware of any changes to your building that affect the protection of the fire alarm system.
